#106 Raj Sodhi – Redefining successful 21st Century learning at home and in class
Is rote memorization a strategy of the past? It’s hard to deny that fun and technology are inextricable elements of 21st century learning, but is there a balance that needs to be attained at home and in the classroom? In this episode, CEO of 7 Senses Labs, Gavenraj Sodhi discusses the rightful place for memorization and his mission to integrate fun and technology into the creative learning process to the benefit of all. Originally from Chicago, Raj has lived in China for the past six years. He loves the innovations that are taking place from Internet of Things to education technologies and he most loves watching the faces of kids as they learn new things all the time. It inspires him to be a champion and change agent in education, bringing happiness back into kids’ minds and sparking the creativity that they begin to lose from kindergarten on. In his interview, Raj shares how each of us as parents, family, and educators can play a greater role to helping our kids restore their happiness in learning and understand that learning happens all the time all around us and not just from memorizing what we learn at school to pass a test.
I just want to go out in the mountain villages of China and be able to give educational access to kids who never really have had a chance—a chance that every kid deserves.
